43.8 million ETH. That is how much was staked on Ethereum at the end of September, about 36 percent of supply, according to Bitwise’s quarterly staking report, covered by The Block on 20 October.
Net inflows were just under 2 million ETH in the third quarter of 2026, the sixth straight quarter of positive flows. Bitmine, a single treasury company, lifted its staked ETH from 410,000 in December to 5.07 million as of 27 September.
Yield moved the other way. The annualised rate averaged 2.63 percent, down from 2.81 percent in the previous quarter, and newly issued ETH made up more than 96 percent of it. Network revenue fell to roughly $40.6 million from $63 million in the second quarter.
Solana set its own record. Active staking reached 440.5 million SOL, about 69 percent of supply, while gross staking yields fell by around 6 percent. Transactions reached 14.2 billion, up 45 percent, and fees rose 49 percent to $76 million, driven mostly by memecoin trading.
Tokenised equity trading volume on Solana rose 45 percent to more than $6.9 billion in the quarter.
These are Bitwise’s figures, relayed without independent checking, and Ethereum’s revenue and Solana’s fees are different measures that cannot be compared directly. The pattern is a growing pool sharing a return that comes almost entirely from new issuance. How much more can be staked before the yield stops attracting new money is the number nobody has offered yet.
